Social Media: A Battleground Between Kink and Censorship
Kinksters are utilizing mainstream social media now more than ever before, posting in public while walking the line on what is deemed “explicit.”

Like any new kink or fetish with its own unique and involved vocabulary and practices, gooning may seem daunting to an outsider. But getting into it doesn’t have to be hard.
While you may encounter a few purists in gooning spaces who think there’s only one right way to goon, generally the community is inclusive and open. No one’s going to judge you if, say, you don’t get the appeal of Dom/sub play. Nor will they demand that you dive into the deep end of any particular kink, or change your life. Instead, if you talk to most gooners online or in person, they’ll likely just help you find the best community and approach to gooning for you specifically.
“Gooning is not an objective state,” stressed Anton, a gooner who shares gooning content with well over 10,000 social media followers. “You don’t reach it after edging a certain number of hours. You can goon whenever you want, however you want.”
However, here are a few things experienced gooners think all newbies should keep in mind:
Don't feel pressured to pull a goon face or go down the rabbit hole of goon porn right off the bat
How to Goon Safely and Comfortably
Although you don’t need any special gear or prep work to start gooning, Sally,* a trans gooner who’s active in a queer and femme gooning community, suggests setting aside a fair amount of time for your first session. Don’t feel pressured to pull a goon face or go down the rabbit hole of goon porn right off the bat. Just start masturbating like you usually would, with the peace to enjoy yourself, and an awareness of when you’re getting close to a climax. “Take breaks. Drink water. Go to the bathroom. Stop and come back later. Or keep going,” she said. Do whatever makes you feel comfortable. “It only matters that you don’t tip over” into a full-on orgasm.
“Stop when you think you can’t do more. Come back later,” she added. “Don’t push yourself.” Breaks for rest, hydration, and nutrition are vital for even the most experienced gooners.
If you want some inspiration, then maybe try watching some gooning porn. Let a porn mommy give you some guidance. Or watch what other gooners do in the videos they make of themselves and “imitate what is the most interesting or hottest thing to you,” Anton said. “Explore the way you feel while doing different gooning stuff,” and lean into the things you find that you like.

How to Find Your Gooning Community
If you want to find a reliable source of gooning fuel or inspiration, then you ought to find one or more dedicated digital communities that speak to you. This is as simple as searching “gooner” or “gooning” on Twitter or Reddit, perusing the results, and digging deeper into whichever accounts or forums pique your interest, several gooners told Zipper. On these platforms, you’ll usually find recommendations and links for even more involved communities on platforms like Kik or Discord. Participating in a dedicated gooning group is also a great way to get support or guidance as you explore gooning, noted Goddess Goldy, a domme who makes gonner content—especially if and as you start to get into some of the more involved sides of the practice, like addiction play.
If you want a good stepping stone for your journey into the gooning world, rather than an open-ended search, then several gooners Zipper spoke to suggested these huge, active subreddits:
r/Gooned: One of the largest and most general-interest open gooning spaces online.
r/GoonetteHub: In contrast to most predominantly masculine spaces, this is a forum for women.
r/GoonCaves: A space for people to share their gooning setups; also open to general dialogue.
r/GoonGay: A major hub for masculine queer gooning fuel and discourse.
r/PornIsCheating: Mostly goon fuel for the porn-centric gooner, but with lively comments.
r/PornRelapsed: A good space to explore the prevalent thread of addiction play gooning.
