And they know it can be hard for others to wrap their heads around it. In fact, they\u2019re arguably just a unique manifestation of more widely-accepted kinks. So in theory, to an academic santaphilia would mean that an individual is &#8220;sexually aroused by Father Christmas and Father Christmas only,&#8221; as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntu.ac.uk\/staff-profiles\/social-sciences\/mark-griffiths\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Mark Griffiths<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a psychologist who studies kinks and fetishes, put it. A kink is a more general erotic inclination towards something that&#8217;s not usually sexualized or part of mainstream sex. Does that mean I just got inducted into this world? <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(This one\u2019s been <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/movies\/trailer-for-david-harbours-santa-movie-violent-night-drops-and-the-response-is-a-lot-of-thirst-tweets\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a hot topic on Twitter<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> over the last couple of weeks, actually.)<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No one <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Zipper<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> spoke to had any interest in setting boundaries around the fetish. They all stressed that everyone\u2019s erotic relationship with the idea of Santa will likely be unique. In fact, while Acrasial and one other person <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Zipper <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">spoke to say they know a few folks who share the fetish, everyone else we spoke to said they\u2019d never met anyone else. \u201cIt\u2019s nice to feel somewhat normal about it finally,\u201d S\u00f8mer said of getting to talk about her fantasies. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The majority of digital chatter on the topic actually seems to involve someone joking about how a particularly rugged depiction of Santa, or sexed-up Christmas ad, is going to give them a fetish. Or someone who recently read erotica featuring the fetish, or watched <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bustle.com\/articles\/195359-this-bad-santa-recap-will-prepare-you-for-bad-santa-2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2003\u2019s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bad Santa<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (which features a notorious Santa sex scene, and Lauren Graham as a love interest with a serious Christmas kink), asking whether it\u2019s really a thing. (The earliest use of the term Santa fetish <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Zipper <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was able to find online was actually in a submission to an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.literotica.com\/s\/santas-naughty-aunt\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">erotica forum<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, circa 2001.) Most people seem to think it is a fake kink.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beyond the purely digital sphere, two experts on the lore of and modern culture built around Santa told Zipper that they&#8217;d never heard of Santa fetishes.
